Dr. John Tanner, retired September 12th, 2023, is a board-certified oral, maxillofacial and facial cosmetic surgeon who has been practicing in the Kansas City area for over thirty years. He holds degrees from Northwestern University in both dentistry and medicine. His post-graduate training includes fellowships in Beverly Hills and in Strasbourg France, Emanuel Hospital & Health Center in Portland, Oregon and at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Chicago, Illinois. He is in the endless pursuit of new information and knowledge. Dr. Tanner has been named a “fellow” by numerous prestigious organizations. His accomplishments and academic achievements are nearly endless.
In explaining his passion for his field, Dr. Tanner says, “Oral and maxillofacial surgery is a specialty that allows me to pursue my surgical passion in a number of ways, every day. It’s very satisfying to see a once anxious and fearful patient leave our office pleased with the care that they received.”
Dr. Tanner is dedicated to a healthy, active lifestyle. In addition to choosing foods wisely, Dr. Tanner is an avid swimmer. When we manage to get him away from the office, Dr. Tanner enjoys travel, boating, fishing, and hiking. Dr. Tanner is a devoted KC sports fan. He is a proud parent of two adult children and a grandfather of two boys.

Dr. Brown was born and raised in Jefferson City, Missouri, and knew early on that he would follow a path to medicine. His dedication to achieving excellence in mind, body and in spirit has been a lifetime pursuit. Dr. Brown completed his undergraduate studies at UMKC in 2010 with honors. His determination of academic excellence manifested as admittance into UMKC’s accelerated dental program. This was followed by a dental degree from UMKC in 2014 and a medical degree from UT Health San Antonio in 2017. Dr. Brown completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at University Hospital in San Antonio where he served as Chief Resident in his program. At UTHSCA, he gained experience in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery including benign pathology, obstructive sleep apnea, and cleft and craniofacial reconstruction. There, he received focused surgical training in both open and minimally invasive TMJ surgery, orthognathic surgery, and in facial trauma.
In his spare time, he has coauthored multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on TMJ replacement, dynamic guided dental implants and orthognathic surgery. Dr. Brown’s high standards for patient care and his passion for oral and maxillofacial surgery make him a perfect fit for Facial Surgery Group.

Pediatric Cleft & Craniofacial
Dr. Christopher is a board-certified oral maxillofacial surgeon and fellowship-trained Pediatric Cleft & Craniofacial Surgeon. He earned his dental degree from the prestigious Howard University in 2014 and his medical degree from UMKC School of Medicine in 2017. He completed his residency training at UMKC where he gained an excellent background in full-scope oral & maxillofacial surgery. His expertise includes anesthesia, wisdom teeth removal, dental implantology, benign pathology, obstructive sleep apnea, jaw (orthognathic) surgery and facial trauma reconstruction.
Dr. Christopher furthered his education with fellowship training in pediatric cleft & craniofacial surgery. He gained surgical proficiency in cleft lip and palate repair, minimally invasive endoscopic craniosynostosis repair, benign pediatric pathology, and a variety of syndromic and non-syndromic craniofacial anomalies from birth to adulthood. He is proud to serve as the Medical Director of the Cleft and Craniofacial Team at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Dr. Christopher is extremely passionate about serving children with cleft & craniofacial differences both locally and internationally. In his spare time, he continues to travel internationally multiple times a year to provide free cleft lip and palate repairs and pediatric surgeries to children in Africa and Central America.

Ashley Stansbury, DDS, MD is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. She completed her undergraduate studies at The University of Texas at Austin and went on to earn her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. The following year, she completed an oral and maxillofacial surgery internship at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Dr. Stansbury earned her medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and trained at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center and College of Dentistry for her oral and maxillofacial surgery residency.
During her residency, Dr. Stansbury received extensive training in dentoalveolar surgery, office-based adult and pediatric anesthesia, zygoma implants, dental implants including full arch restoration, orthognathic surgery, facial trauma surgery, and treatment of pathology. Dr. Stansbury is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is the President of the Kansas City Women Dentists.

Pediatric Cleft & Craniofacial Surgery
Dr. Weiss is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon with fellowship training and surgical expertise in pediatric oral, cleft, and craniofacial surgery. He practices within the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including comprehensive dentoalveolar and implant surgery, facial trauma, benign pathology, and orthognathic surgery. Additionally, he is one of very few surgeons with advanced anesthesia training in the pediatric population. He holds privileges at 4 hospitals in the surrounding Kansas City area and plays an integral role on the Cleft and Craniofacial Team at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
While Dr. Weiss was born in Saint Louis, his medical training has taken him from Missouri to Nebraska, Texas, and Florida, prior to returning to Kansas City. He began his collegiate career at the University of Missouri Columbia where he majored in Biomedical Engineering. Upon graduation, he attended Creighton University School of Dentistry, graduating at the top of his class. He expanded his education by obtaining his M.D. from Texas Tech University Health Science Center prior to completing residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Texas A&M Health Science Center in Dallas, Texas. During his residency, he received extensive training as a fully integrated resident in both anesthesiology and general surgery. At the conclusion of residency, he was selected for surgical fellowship at the Florida Craniofacial Institute where he furthered his surgical skills to master the art and science of caring for the pediatric population.
He has published numerous articles and peer-reviewed manuscripts and enjoys lecturing locally to physicians and residents. As a husband and father to 3 rowdy boys, Dr. Weiss is most proud of his family and is privileged to practice alongside his friends and colleagues at Facial Surgery Group.

Dr. Nicholas Anggelis is a board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who joined Facial Surgery Group in 2024. He was born in Atlanta, GA and raised in Louisville Kentucky. He attended College at the University of Kentucky followed by doctoral studies and graduation with honors from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 2016. He then completed a dual degree residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. During residency, Dr. Anggelis completed an internship in general surgery and had extensive training in head and neck surgical oncology and reconstructive surgery. While training at UNMC, he developed a stark interest in orthognathic surgery, temporomandibular joint surgical intervention, dentoalveolar, and traumatic reconstruction. Dr. Anggelis met his wife, Britain Doolittle Anggelis, during residency and they welcomed their son, Topper, in September of 2023.
Dr. Anggelis is excited to offer a full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to the Kansas City metro alongside his partners at Facial Surgery Group. He understands that surgical services are not just about medicine but also about the art of surgery, requiring a creative and a constructive skill. Dr. Anggelis learned a large part of this artistic science as chief resident at the UNMC following a diverse set of training experiences.
Outside of work, he enjoys playing golf and billiards, smoking BBQ meat, and most of all spending time with his wife and son while cheering on the University of Kentucky wildcats and Nebraska Cornhuskers!
